Welcome to the Teacher's Lounge. Grab a cuppa and let's get going.
If you're after information on research skills, project based learning, guided inquiry and/or note-taking and research skills then visit Information Literacy. Go to Visual Literacy for resources and ideas for teaching this increasingly important element of literacy. Creative arts ideas are linked to books and authors, with a sprinkling of other suggestions, just for fun. Kindergarten, Stage One, Stage Two and Stage Three pages contain resource pathfinders for units of work or themes for each Stage. Special events and themed resources can be found at Book Week, Remembrance Day and Christmas. |

e4ac - English for the Australian Curriculum has a wide range of learning sequences and activities for teaching English and Literacy Foundation through to year 10. These are mapped to and Australian Curriculum: English as well as other subject areas. Reading Australia, produced by Copyright Australia, has a wide range of Teachers Resources based on some traditional stories including one of my childhood favourites, Ethel Pedley's Dot and the Kangaroo. Other featured titles include Nadia Wheatley's Five Times Dizzy and Junko Morimoto's The Two Bullies - both excellent multicultural stories. All of the teachers resources on the Reading Australia website are written to match the Australian Curriculum: English. The home page also has quick link categories by text classification (eg. Children's Books, Historical Narrative, and so on...). |
