Our reading pick for this Term was undeniably influenced by the fact that Tim Harris will be visiting our school on 21st August!
Our first Book Club session in week one focused on the introduction to the students of 12B. We discussed our first impressions of the unicycle riding, Mongolian welcome song singing, sparkling blue-suit-wearing, Mr Bambuckles. Where did he come from? How did he know so much about the students.
This week's Book Club really focused on what we would add to Mr Bambuckle to make him even better as a teacher. Some of the suggestions were interesting, to say the least - and quite telling about how little work any student wants to do in class!
I also gave students the same challenge as Mr Bambuckle - create your own less flowery and more specific stickers and stamps. We will review these at our next Book Club in Week 4.
And...next week we meet Canteen Carol! Read up to and including page 54.
How does Mr Bambuckle trick Carol? Why does the author include this Chapter? What is it's purpose?
