To coincide with Education Week, beginning Monday 1st August, our Book Fair will open its doors for the first time in its new place, in our School Library.
Our Book Fair will be open each morning from 8am-9am on Monday, 1st August until Thursday 4th August. As we know that many parents will also be visiting our school on Wednesday, 3rd August for our Open Day Concert, our Book Fair will also be opened this day at lunch, from 11:15am-12:00pm and after school from 3:05 until 3:30pm.
My #picturebookpicks this year are two very funny books. Aaron Blabey's new release, "Don't call be bear" is a hilarious account of Koala's efforts to convince the reader that he is definitely NOT a bear. This provides opportunities to discuss history, (Captain James Cook is apparently the culprit in naming the koala a 'bear') and scientific classification, discussing the differences between bears and marsupials and looking at other Australian animals that are marsupials (even if they are all wearing Y-front underwear).
Said to be the next Roald Dahl, David Walliams talent for gross-ness and finding the humour in everyday life continues with his tales of the worst children in the world. There's Nigel Nit-boy who harbours his scalp-loving nit friends like one would a cherished pet, and Windy Mindy with the musical bottom, who became a world-wide musical sensation.
As always, our most popular books can be paid for and ordered on the day if they happen to sell out and they are delivered to classrooms, usually within a week of ordering.
We will also have $2 and $3 posters, along with a wide range of stationery items for sale, including a double order of pointers this year, just because they are always so popular!
We hope to see you at our Book Fair to support our school and to continue to encourage our students to be passionate about stories, reading and literature.
