The Splash ABC site has amazing resources for teaching and learning but it also has interesting articles about a wide range of educational issues, including the importance of reading in the first year of school. This article stresses how all students in this first year of school - whether it be called Kindergarten, Foundation, Pre-Primary or anything else - should complete the year believing that they will be "clever readers and writers".
