summer 2013 to 2014 - BUCKET list
I like to create a Bucket List of activities with my family to complete before the end of the summer holidays. Typically, this is a time when we are all together, the weather is great for outdoor activities, and, with it being the longest break from school in the year in Australia, there is plenty of time to fit everything in for everyone without feeling stressed.
Creating a Bucket List of activities to do with students really gives an insight into their personal tastes. We should probably do it at the beginning of the year rather than the end!
My students use a notepad-feel Microsoft Word template to complete this activity. It already includes two call-out boxes for inserting text boxes of ideas, but students should not be limited to these, they can change them up to suit themselves. As long as there is at least five activities, that's a good start. They can add more call-out boxes or just insert text and then add their own drawing elements or clipart. Of course, explicit teaching in these skills may be required, depending on the capabilities of students.
For the more advanced students, this activity could also be completely student generated using Glogster, Smore or any other online publishing tool or app.
