General Reference
What are General References? |
General References |
General Reference books have facts and figures about a wide variety of different topics. They include Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases, Fact Sheets and Almanacs.
We use General Reference books to begin our research. They help us find bits of information about our topic so that we can decide if we want to know more about and it and the types of words we could use to learn more. |
Go to http://www.factmonster.com/countries.html Click on a country to find its flag, its size, who lives there, the languages they speak and any other interesting facts. Find our Jacaranda Primary Atlases on the Reference shelves at NON FICTION 912 COU. Use the Index to find the country your neighbour comes from on the World Map. Go to the country pages and read the Case Studies to find out about the people who live there, where they live, the types of homes they live in and any other interesting facts. Use the QR Code Scanner on the iPad or iPod to scan the QR code on the page for extra online information about the country and its people (Note: If WiFi enabled). |
